With the right care, your tree can stay green and healthy-looking for 4 to 6 weeks.
A little care goes a long way and helps keep your tree looking fresh through the season.
Think of your tree like fresh flowers and give it water from the very beginning.
Once you get your tree home, set it up straight away and let it take a big long drink. The first 24 hours are vital.
Position it somewhere cool, away from direct sunlight, air conditioning, and ripening fruit.
Do not let the water level drop below the base of the trunk. If it does, simply recut the base to break the seal formed by exposure to air.

Make the trip home simple and secure.
Bring a tarp, sheet, or blanket to help protect your vehicle on the trip home.
Secure the tree firmly in more than one place if it is travelling on the roof, trailer, or tray.
Keep the trunk end supported and avoid dragging the tree when loading or unloading.
Head home steadily and set the tree up as soon as possible so it can get its first long drink quickly.
A few simple things can make the visit easier.
You do not need much, but bringing a few practical items can make choosing, cutting, and getting the tree home more straightforward.
Sturdy shoes for walking around the farm.
Gloves if you would like a bit more grip while handling the tree.
A blanket, sheet, or tarp to help protect the car.
Straps or tie-downs if you are taking the tree home on a trailer or roof rack.
